An intimate portrait of London’s nocturnal pedicab passengers, revealing the unpretentious beauty at the heart of a unique mode of transport. In a series of fixed-take vignettes, we meet friends, families, children, awkward dates, carefree Cindarellas, flamboyant fairy godmothers and part-time Prince Charmings from all walks of life, who are transformed, for one brief journey, into heroes of the night. Produced as the pedicab industry navigates new bills and regulations put forward by Transport For London, Pumpkin Ride offers both a fresh perspective on a familiar and increasingly contested entity, and a sensorial escape into the capital’s mundane, magical and diverse nightlife, burning bright before it too must be home by morning.
